Finding the power and principles to persuade: synopsis of a symposium

The third annual Power to Persuade symposium was hosted in Melbourne this week, featuring Australian Council of Social Service (ACOSS) CEO Cassandra Goldie, education and marketing commentator Jane Caro, and author James Button, plus panels of experts from across the academic, community and public sectors.

It was a sell-out event, and the symposium hashtag #PtP2014 trended nationally on Twitter. This blog will post audio, powerpoints and articles from the presentations over the coming weeks and months, with a book to be published next year by Routledge of previous symposium highlights.

Below is a glimpse into some of the conversations sparked yesterday by Dr Goldie around a range of challenges to the community sector to both open new doors to influence the agenda but also about when to step away from the table when mission and values are compromised or work may cause damage to those it is meant to support.
